Instigated by Tracy Sigler, former VP of Web Ops at The Motley Fool, AVL Marketing is a new force to be reckoned with. His approach to online marketing is to push the boundaries of free content and minimize the entry fee to your online presence. His goal when building the Asheville Marketing Team of AVL Marketing was to simplify modern marketing for small business.

His core team of internet gurus includes: blog writer, Kristen Campbell, social media butterfly and founder of Gluten Free Beauty; Pay Per Click Ninja, Taylor Brown, who knows more about keywords than google algorithms; Design/Programmer, Jared Ray, who is a highly recommended purveyor of fine visual communications; and then there is me, as director of ideation.

I met Tracy a few years back while I was working at TopFloorStudio. Over the years I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people in the working in the web space. Of them, Tracy is one of a small handful that impressed me beyond comprehension. Since meeting him I had always hoped to get to work with him some how. His background as a maker, cyclist, creative, and internet pioneer humbled me when we first met and blows my mind to this day. I feel privileged to get to share an office with him on the daily. Just showing up for work gets me a class on SEO, new media tools, and exposure to some of the great modern marketing thinkers.

Why AVL Marketing? Have you ever wanted to work with awesome people? I know I have. I have been fairly lucky over the years. I’ve got to work with some cool people, but this Asheville based marketing team is at the top. The clients we work with are folks like chair maker Brian Boggs and poplar shingle manufacturer Highland Craftsmen. For us, coming to work is getting to go play.
