For over 50 years the NC Mineral and Gem Festival has welcomed thousands of visitors each year to Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Widely known as the most important mining district in the world, Spruce Pine has a strong mining history and heritage. The Festival welcomes dealers from around the country selling fine jewelry, gemstones, minerals, fossils and more! During the four day Festival, attendees enjoy shopping, mine tours, lectures, book signings as well as enjoying the beautiful attractions and activities offered in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
While you are in Spruce Pine make a point of eating at one the great restaurants in the downtown area. Find your way to Oak Ave or Locust Ave and you will find something for everyone.
Directions: The NC Mineral and Gem Festival is held in Spruce Pine, NC a great location for travelers as it is in the middle of everything! One hour from Hickory, Boone, Asheville, and Johnson City and just two hours from Charlotte and Winston-Salem, the Festival makes a great weekend getaway experience!
From I-40: Take exit 86 in Marion. Continue on Hwy 221 N to Hwy 226 N. Follow Hwy 226 to Spruce Pine. Across from Don Smith Ford on left, turn right onto Summit Avenue. The Festival site is less than 1/4 mile. Look for signs and parking attendants.
From Asheville: Take I-26 towards Tennessee to exit 9 (Burnsville/Spruce Pine exit) Turn right at end of ramp onto Hwy 19. Follow Hwy 19 through Burnsville to Spruce Pine. At third stop light in Spruce Pine, turn right onto Hwy 226 S. Go approx. 1/4 mile and turn left onto Summit Avenue. The Festival site is less than 1/4 mile. Look for signs and parking attendants.
